Car acquisition – an event considerable in life of the motorist. Questions which rise at various stages of its implementation, are so extensive what to try to capture it within one material is not reasonable. Therefore we will try to shine one subject: "Acquisition of the second-hand car".

There is a lot of ways of purchase of cars. If you want to get the second-hand car, it is possible most to go behind it abroad, is independent and as a part of special tourist group. With smaller efforts you can buy the car according to the newspaper announcement or through acquaintances, and also in motor shows and on car markets. Each their these ways has the features, but below the following recommendations are similar for each of them.

So, before legally making out car purchase, it is necessary to check existence of all relevant documents. Thus it is desirable to use such service, as car check on stealing. These services exist now not only in State traffic inspectorate offices, but also in many autoshops and on large car markets. Upon car purchase with foreign numbers, in particular from the Baltic countries, to the required price it is necessary to add quite considerable sum on its customs clearance. Upon car purchase from the Kaliningrad region pay attention to a mark of customs in technical data sheet which can be valid as for Russia, and only for the Kaliningrad region. The main document on the car is the vehicle passport. Issue of technical data sheets and technical coupons of an old sample (approved by the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR of N370 from 15.10.82) is stopped since January 1, 1994. First of all is an interpretation of identification number (VIN).

The first part of the VIN code consists of 3 figures or the letters designating a geographical zone, a code of the country and a code of manufacturer of a vehicle.

The second part of the VIN code consists of 6 figures or the letters designating a vehicle according to design documentation.

The third part of the VIN code consists of 8 figures or the letters designating serial number of a vehicle. The first sign consisting of a letter of the Latin alphabet, specifies for a year of release of a vehicle.

For example, identification number of the car VAZ-21013 has the following designation: XTA 210130D00000002, where X – a geographical zone (Russia), T – the manufacturer code (And – VAZ, In – AZLK etc.), 210130 – model or the updating, D – year of release (1983), 00000002 – serial production number.

For designation of year of release of vehicles the following letters are established: D–1983, E – 1984, F – 1985, G – 1986, H – 1987, J – 1988, K – 1989, L – 1990, M – 1991–1992, P – 1993, R – 1994, S – 1995, T – 1996, V – 1997, W – 1998, the X-th-1999, Y – 2000.

In a line of the log "Color of a body (cabin)" visually defined color in which the vehicle is painted is specified: white, red, yellow, green, dark blue, brown, black, multi-color etc.

In line "the full name of color of a body (cabin)" is specified the enamel name on manufacturer marking.

At change of color of a vehicle in the passport the corresponding record is made.

There is a mass of ways of falsification and forgery. In practice interrupt (and respectively bring in the document), as a rule, one figure in number. But to tell on pages of a popular edition about subtleties of technology it is represented inexpedient. And hardly the person who for the first time has taken in hands the document, can reveal forgery and pay attention to discrepancies. Therefore car check on stealing in GAI not only verification of numbers with computer data, but also verification of documents is represented to the most reasonable. And still at visual survey of numbers on the car and documents we advise to pay attention on:

 – compliance of fonts and their inclinations;
 – an ootvetstviye and sequence of terms and dates in records;
 – lack of erasures and violations of a protective grid;
 – readership of prints of the seals.

Especially sharply this question costs concerning documents on the cars which have arrived from Poland and Baltic.
