9.14. The forward aligning plug

GENERAL INFORMATION

The aligning plug (arrow)

The aligning plug (arrow) is pressed in a forward end face of the driveshaft. At wear of the plug from a forward part of a shaft the increased noise is listened.

Check and replacement

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. For check of a condition of the plug shake the driveshaft in the cross-section direction, having unscrewed bolts and nuts of fastening of the elastic coupling to a flange of a shaft of a check point. If it is felt appreciable люфт, the plug replace.
Prevention

On a part of cars the plug is closed by a dustproof cover which is sometimes deformed at driveshaft removal. It is not necessary to consider damage of a cover as a consequence of wear of the plug, cover damage also does not affect a condition of the aligning plug.


2. Remove the driveshaft.
3. Remove the plug from the driveshaft with hydroblow, having filled with dense greasing a cavity of the plug and having struck on an opravka in diameter about 14 mm, inserted into the plug.
4. Grease the new plug with molybdenic greasing and press in the driveshaft. After a press fitting the edge of the plug should defend from a driveshaft end face on 4,5 mm.
