3.1.9. Chain and asterisks (M10 engine)



After installation of the piston of the 1st cylinder in VMT of a step of compression and chain removal rotation of the crankshaft is not allowed, serious breakages because of impact of heads of valves with the bottoms of pistons otherwise are possible.


1. Establish the piston of the 1st cylinder in VMT of a step of compression (see subsection 3.1.4).
2. Uncover heads of cylinders (see subsection 3.1.5). Be convinced that yokes of valves of the 1st cylinder freely rock.
3. Remove the top cover of a chain of a drive of a cam-shaft (see subsection 3.1.8). Be convinced of combination of labels on a cam-shaft flange with inflow in the top part of a head of cylinders. Besides, the opening under a pin of an asterisk of a cam-shaft should be in the lowermost point.
4. Release 4 bolts of fastening of an asterisk of a cam-shaft, holding the central bolt of a pulley of an uspokoitel, without allowing a crankshaft provorachivaniye. On a part of cars kontrovochny washers of bolts of an asterisk which at assembly it is possible not to establish are used. In this case before an otvorachivaniye of bolts unbend ears of washers.
5. Remove the bottom cover of a chain of a drive of a cam-shaft (see subsection 3.1.8).
6. Deduce a chain from gearing with an asterisk of a cam-shaft and remove a chain, a cam-shaft and crankshaft asterisk (see below). If necessary slightly пристукните on an asterisk to shift from a place.
Condition check
7. Check existence on the leader and a kryuchkovatost of teeths conducted asterisks. At detection of wear and damages of teeths of an asterisk replace.
8. For removal of a leading asterisk from a sock of the crankshaft it is necessary to remove a segment shponka and the oil pump (see subsection 3.1.15).


Asterisk напрессована on "hot" therefore the stripper of maxillary type is required. The new asterisk before installation should be heated up to 80 ° S.Poetomu, according to the recommendation of the manufacturer if it is necessary to replace a crankshaft asterisk, it is necessary to remove the crankshaft (see subsection 3.2.16) and to hand over in car-care center for a thermal napressovka of an asterisk.

9. Change in a set with asterisks, as a rule at each capital repairs of the engine. The main signs of wear of a chain – the increased noise at operation of the engine and formation of paths on rollers.
Natyazhitel and uspokoitel of a chain
10. Check existence of signs of wear or damages on a natyazhitel and an uspokoitel of a chain (formation of paths of wear because of contact with a chain). At detection of defects replace these details. For replacement get lock cutting washers.


For removal of a natyazhitel or an uspokoitel get these cutting washers, having taken measures to losing a washer, as probably spruzhinivany washers at release and their hit in the engine.

11. Check freedom of moving of a ball in a natyazhitel. If knock when stirring is absent, a natyazhitel replace.
12. Blow a natyazhitel from the closed end face and from a crack. Air should not pass through a plunzher at a purge from the closed end face and should pass freely at a purge from a crack.


1. Establish a natyazhitel and an uspokoitel.
2. Check combination of labels by statement to the place of the bottom cover of a chain and a crankshaft pulley. After check remove these details.
3. Dress a chain at first on a crankshaft asterisk, and then on a cam-shaft asterisk, having directed on an uspokoitel and directing a natyazhitel. Dress a cam-shaft asterisk, check combination of labels.
4. Further assembly is carried out upside-down. Tighten all fastenings with the set moment.
